Minutes Tuesday 15 September 2009, 8:15-8:45 a.m.

Present: Dr. Matteo, Presiding; Drew Bryant, Brinkley Dinsmore, Cody Donald, Karlyn Dunne, Kelsey Hill, Roopali Kulkarni, Daenuka Muraleetharan, Sarah Pinney, Sam Powell, Brianna Salley, Jenni Sherba, Katelyn Thorne.

Absent but there in Spirit: Eliza Mace, Andrew Simmons, Daniel Smith.

I. Opening: Matteo convened the meeting with a hearty Salvete!

II. Membership: Rosters were circulated to build a directory of student members with e-mails. These were collected.

III. Nomination of Officers: There was open debate about nominees for office. The offices available are: co-consul (up to two), co-praetor (up to two), tribunus, aedilis, quaestor and nuntius. The officia are as follows: co-consul, two presidents; co-praetor, two vice-presidents; tribunus, secretary; aedilis, social/certamina/entertainment; quaestor, treasurer; and nuntius, historian/t-shirts/publicity.

The following slate of candidates was put forward to the membership for approval.

This slate was approved without objection and will be finalized through verbal consent of the absent nominees.

IV. Committees: The following continuing and new projects were discussed, and committee chairs were appointed. Float Committee/Homecoming, OPEN; Committee for Ancient Greek Studies, OPEN; Roman Mysteries Club at Belmont Middle School, MURALEETHARAN; Marauder's Map of Room 301, POWELL; "As You Like It" Collateral Activities (STC Guests, refreshements), KULKARNI; T-Shirt Committee, HILL.

V. Tasking: Dunne & Smith should announce and convene the next meeting in approximately one week (perhaps W 22 Sept from 4-5, or Th 24 Sept in the a.m.). Tribunus (DINSMORE) will record the next meeting's minutes; the Quaestor (MACE) will establish dues and collect them. We are seeking a Float Chair and Family for the construction site; Powell is tasked with coordinating artists/craftspeople to construct the Marauder's Map before Back-to-School Night 21 September 2009.

VI. Unfinished Business: We are in need of a Float Committee Chair and Family willing to live with the Float until its disposal.

VII. Conclusion: The next meeting date and time is to be determined. The present meeting was dismissed on a merry note.
